The primary use of use of battery garde lithium carbonate (and lithium hydroxide) is as a precursor to lithium compounds used in lithium-ion batteries. In practice two components of the battery are made with lithium compounds: the cathode and the electrolyte.

By the beginning of November, the quotation of battery-grade lithium carbonate/lithium hydroxide bulk orders once crossed the 200,000 yuan/ton mark, which was nearly four times higher than the 50,000-60,000 yuan/ton price at the beginning of the year. GGII data shows that by 2025, the global penetration rate of new energy vehicles is expected to reach more than 20%, which will drive global power battery shipments to 1,100GWh.
